Movie musicals are all the craze right now, and if it's done right, I think it can be a phenomenon.
I highly recommend this movie Sing, and let me tell you why (possible spoilers!).
There are a whole range of different characters in this movie. You will at least be able to find 2-3 characters that have lives that feel like yours.
Every character has their own journey, and they make it tasteful. Even though there are a whole host of characters, you never feel like they are trying to squeeze in too much. Every character has their own story line, but there is one thing they all have in common: they are unsatisfied with the way things are.
The music in this movie is also great. There are very little songs in this movie that I did not enjoy. Every character has a beautiful voice, and they all sing extremely well.
The theme of this entire movie, is also amazing.
Yes, there are a lot of story lines, and while I did mention they all have one thing in common, the producers do not do them the same way.
One character is unsatisfied with her domestic life, while another is unsatisfied with the music and spotlight they are getting. You see the gist here.
I watched this movie at the end of 2016, when I was feeling down about the whole year (I'm sure most of us can agree that 2016 was a terrible year in many different ways) and this movie cheered me up. I think this was an amazing movie, in that the final message was extremely uplifting and positive.
And do you know how truly good this movie was? That I watched it with my sister, and she ended up crying, while I teared up. Watch it. You will not be disappointed.
I will end this review with a very positive quote that really struck a chord with me:
