How To: Constantly Challenge Yourself

There is nothing wrong with complacency, but there is also a good in putting yourself in challenging and tough situations. If you have that challenge mindset, read on to find out how you can challenge yourself more. 


Never let go of your curiosity

As humans, we are naturally very curious people however, in my opinion, as we get older, society tends to stop our curiosity from taking over our actions. 

We start needing to think about the consequences our curiosity has on other people, on ourselves, and on the future. 

But in my opinion, if we don't stay curious, how are we ever going to grow, to learn, and to experience life fully? So I never let go of my curiosity. If I don't know something, I'll ask. If I want to go somewhere, I'll figure out a way to make it happen. And that's how I constantly keep myself on my toes. 

Keep striving for the unobtainable

I challenge myself to things that I know may be unobtainable. For example, this blog - even though I work hard for it, and have worked hard for it to get here, I don't necessarily know if I'll be able to make it a living for myself, even though this is one of the few things in my life that make me incredibly happy. 

Still, that doesn't stop me from posting consistently, nor does it stop me from striving to be the best in the industry. 

So strive for something that you can't obtain, because it isn't necessarily the goal that matters, but the journey. 

Enjoy the challenge 

Let's be real, when we are in the middle of a challenging activity/experience, we think we'll never get out of it. 

But part of having a challenging activity/experience is to live life to the fullest, so we should enjoy every moment of it. Even if it's so bad that you burst out crying - go cry, go scream, and go let those emotions out. 

Just don't forget to enjoy the moment as well. Because after the challenge is over, you'll remember how you went through it, and you'll emerge stronger than you were before. 

find people who are willing to challenge you

If you surround yourself with people who are content with life, then you'll start thinking about life in that way. Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being content with your life (because we are really blessed to have such a life) but it is also important to remember that in order for you to be even happier in the future, you gotta challenge yourself. 

So surround yourself with people who are willing to challenge you. 

In Seattle, while it's a beautiful city, most of my friends were unwilling to go outside of Seattle. They wanted to stay near their parents during college, and not have to deal with moving out of state. Well, my parents were like, 'no, go do what you want to do, even if that means going to the other side of the US'. 

And that's what I did: I upped and left my parents/family, and my significant other, and went to college that is a 6-8 hour flight + 1-3 hour drive away. 

Because of that, I am challenged every day, and I love it.
