How To: Avoid Mind Games
I hate mind games. It is one of the things in my life that I dislike more than anything and I try really hard right now to avoid it, especially as I get older. Nobody has time for that.
And I have developed some "tips" to avoid mind games so let me share them with you.
Try really hard not to dwell on it.
If it happens, don't think about it.
Realize that those who play mind games lack maturity to be straight forward, to be honest, and to be considerate of other people's time and energy.
The more you think about it and dwell on it, the more you give them the power to play more.
Ignore it, as much as you can.
Sometimes, in order to beat them at their own game, you just got to pretend it isn't happening, and/or ignore it.
The more you address it, the more power you give them. However, I want to clarify that you should absolutely be the bigger person and address the core issue, but don't necessarily address the mind game idea. Because they will deny it, and they will blame it on you, and you do not need or deserve that.
Be as direct and honest as you can.
I cannot stress this enough.
If you are direct and honest with those that play mind games, then they will eventually learn that they do not need to play mind games with you because then they can just talk to you about the problem.
Mind games are a waste of time.
And while I can argue that mind games are all in the head, you may start to see everything as a mind game, but be very aware of the difference between a mind game, and just plain old talking behind your back.
Sometimes it can be in your head, but then sometimes it is also actually happening.
