Maybelline 'Color Molten Eyeshadow Duo' Review

Maybelline 'Color Molten Eyeshadow Duo' Review

I hate eyeshadow. I think eyeshadow and brows are the two parts of make up that I find are very time consuming and can get very frustrating if done incorrectly. So, I tend to avoid those two areas as much as I can.

But I went to my boyfriend’s local Bartell’s and saw that they were in stock which really surprised me. I saw somewhere that they weren’t being released until January so, hence the surprise.

Now, having looked at them in the display, I saw it is a duo, and at least one side was a glitter shadow. I chose the most neutral of them all because I don’t know how easy it is to blend, and I am a rookie.

So I bought one, and I am in awe. I love it.

The texture of the eyeshadow is very creamy and very bouncy. It is also very easy to blend the two shadows together. Since Maybelline marketed the two eyeshadows to be easy to blend, it definitely is. However, I would say that the color pay off is much better when you use a brush to apply the darker shade. The darker color was less vibrant and took more work to build up the color. So, if you have a brush, definitely try to use a brush with it! Or even if you don’t, I hear elf makes some good eyeshadow brushes.

Now the darker shade has quite a lot of glitter in it, but what I love about it is that the glitter is only visible when a light is directly on it. Otherwise, it looks pretty matte.

I think what I love so much about it is that obviously I don’t use eyeshadow primer, but even without primer, the vibrancy of the color still stayed there for over 7 hours of wear.

Once it is on your eyelid, there is almost no fall out, and it doesn’t crease if you use a primer. I forgot to prime my eyes (I don't think I'm into eyeshadow enough to buy eye shadow primer, so I tend to just put some extra face primer onto my eyelids and call it a day) and it did end up creasing a little bit. But it's not ugly creasing. It's very slight and barely noticeable. Even if it does crease though, it is very easy to just use your finger to just blend it right back out. The color will still remain on the lids.

Suffice to say that I am very much in love with this duo.

This duo has gotten me very interested in eye shadow and no doubt, I will be buying more of these, without question.

Something that I do not enjoy however, is that the space between the shadows is so slim that it ends up mixing the two shadows if you are not careful. I wish they put the shadows further apart because they definitely had the space to. I guess if you do use a brush, it won’t be noticeable, but since I am a rookie, I began with my fingers, and it got annoying after awhile.

If you are a rookie at eyeshadow like me, I highly recommend these duos. They are essentially full proof. Since there is only a lighter and darker color, if you have watched enough beauty tutorials, you will know what to do with the colors.

Overall, I love these duos. I want more. And I will be buying more.
